On the phone they already use

A familiar voice answers, every time they call.

KindredMind Voice talks with them on the phone they already know, whether that is a cell phone or the landline in the kitchen. It answers when they call. It calls them. And it gives gentle reminders for medicine, meals, and the visits they are looking forward to. Nothing new to learn, and nothing new in the house.

A geriatric psychiatry perspective

“Seeing AI bring tangible relief to dementia patients through KindredMind's innovative voice companionship model surpasses most treatments we have at the present time. This trajectory should make us all optimistic in our quest to employ non-pharmaceutical treatments in the battle against dementia.”

Watch it work.

A short look at what KindredMind Voice is, and what setting it up actually involves.

WALKTHROUGH

How KindredMind Voice setup works, step by step

4:06

One phone line, two different jobs

The same product would not work for both.

A person noticing early memory changes and a person with dementia are not at two points on the same challenge. They need opposite things from a phone call. So KindredMind Voice behaves differently depending on which one you are living with, and you choose that once, during setup.

Early memory changes

The challenge

They are still themselves. They still run their own day. But the phone rings less than it used to, conversations get shorter, and the week starts to empty out.

Why it happens

This one is not about memory. It is about a day with less in it and fewer people in it.

What most products do about it

Almost nothing. The products built for this stage are pill reminders and emergency buttons. Neither of them is company.

What the research suggests

The I-CONECT trial gave socially isolated adults aged 75 and over thirty minutes of structured conversation, four days a week, for six months. Participants who had mild cognitive impairment improved on cognitive testing over that period. Participants who did not have it showed no change. The primary result rests on a small pre-pandemic subsample. The conversations were with trained people, and better test scores are not the same thing as delaying dementia.

What KindredMind does

A real conversation, on a schedule, that has somewhere to go. Not a check-in and not a reminder.

Dementia support

The challenge

They call, you answer, you reassure them, and eight minutes later the phone rings again with the same question.

Why it happens

Caregiver training from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) says it plainly: “Because people with dementia are forgetful, they will forget that they called before or asked the same questions even 5 minutes ago.”

It is not a habit and it is not something being done to you. It is a person asking for reassurance who cannot hold on to having received it.

What most products do about it

The market's answer is call screening and call restriction. That is not what the clinical guidance says. UCLA's own training recommends reassurance and reaching out first, and contains no recommendation to screen a call.

What KindredMind does

It answers. Every time, at any hour, with the same warmth on the tenth call as on the first. And it calls them before the worry builds, which is the thing the guidance actually asks for and the thing no caregiver can do at three in the afternoon on a workday.

The dementia-support voice is grounded in simulated presence therapy, validation therapy, and Alzheimer Society of Canada phone-call guidance.

The thing underneath both

Loneliness is not a soft challenge.

Across twenty-one studies and more than six hundred thousand people, loneliness is associated with a thirty-one percent higher risk of dementia. The association held after the researchers accounted for depression and for social isolation, which are not the same thing as loneliness and are often assumed to explain it.

Luchetti et al., Nature Mental Health, 2024. Twenty-one cohorts, 608,561 people.

That is why we built a companion that talks rather than one that reminds. It is not a claim about what KindredMind does to anyone's brain. KindredMind does not treat, prevent, delay, or slow dementia, and we will never tell you it does.

Two ways it can sound

A friendly voice, or a voice they know.

VoiceEarly memory changesDementia support
A warm friendly companion voiceYesYes
A voice they know, regenerated by KindredMindNot offeredYes, with that person's permission

A voice they know is part of dementia support only, and it is added only after that person gives their permission. For early memory changes the companion uses a warm friendly voice, ready from the first call, with nothing for you to record.

They always get an answer

It answers when you cannot, and steps back the moment you can.

You are still the one they want. KindredMind Voice does not take your place in their life, and it was never built to. It covers the hours you cannot be on the phone, so the fourth call of the day gets the same warm answer as the first, and so you get to be their daughter or their son again instead of a switchboard.

A real conversation, not a recording and not a phone menu.

The heart of it

It knows their world, because you are the one who tells it.

Everything that makes a call feel like a real conversation comes from you. Their routine. The people in their life. The questions they ask most often, and the answer you want given. The family news you want passed on. The words that settle them when the afternoon gets long. You write it once, and add to it whenever something comes to mind. Every call is grounded in it.

Their routine

Breakfast, the walk, bingo on Thursday, a rest in the afternoon. Conversations anchored to what is actually happening today.

Their people

Who is who, who visited last week, who is coming Sunday, and the names that matter most.

Your words

The questions they ask again and again, answered the way you would answer them.

It only ever knows what you choose to tell it. Nothing is gathered from anywhere else.

The voice they know

It starts sounding like you, and it keeps getting closer.

You record a short conversation during setup, and your voice is ready to answer that same day. After that it is up to you. Every few minutes you add from your dashboard brings it closer to the way you actually sound. You are never asked to sit down for an hour.

  1. Initial Voice

    Ready right after setup

Warm and recognizably yours, from the very first call.

  2. Refined Voice

    At thirty minutes recorded

Your rhythm and your pauses, not just your tone.

  3. True Voice

    At sixty minutes recorded

The way you carry a longer thought, and how you sound when you are being gentle.

  4. Signature Voice

    At ninety minutes recorded

The closest we can get to the voice they have known their whole life.

Recording time adds up. Thirty minutes is a handful of short sessions whenever you have a moment, not one long sitting.

This is part of dementia support. See the two ways it can sound, above.

Peace of mind, made visible

Everything they need. Everything you have been missing.

A voice that fits the path

A warm companion voice either way. For dementia support, a voice they know, with that person's permission.

Gentle reminders

Medicine, meals, appointments, and the visits they are looking forward to, on the schedule you choose.

Every call summarized

How they seemed, what they talked about, recurring worries, and anything worth knowing, waiting for you when you are ready to read it.

Alerts when something needs you

Every call is watched for signs of distress, with an alert to your phone if they sound distressed. KindredMind is not a medical device or a monitoring service.

A number that is theirs alone

One dedicated, unlisted number, used for calls in, calls out, and texts. People living with dementia are among the most targeted by phone scammers, and a number only you and the companion use is the simplest protection there is.

Auto-Schedule

Set your real weekly availability once, and calls route around it.

Monthly insights

Recurring topics, changes in how they speak, and a caring summary of how the month looked.

Speaks their language

The companion converses in fifteen languages, so they are heard in the language they feel most at home in, even if it is not the one you speak.

A readiness score

A simple score showing how complete your setup is and what to do next. The companion goes live only when everything is ready.

You stay in charge

Change how it behaves in one tap, read every summary at your own pace. It works when you cannot, and steps back the moment you can.

Five percent to a dementia charity you choose

Private by design

What you tell us about them stays yours.

Encrypted, at rest and in transit

Everything you write about them is encrypted with AES-256 where it is stored, and protected with TLS while it travels. The key is held in a separate secrets manager, apart from the data it opens.

We do not ask for what we do not need

No identifying documents, no medical records, no financial information. Standard setup does not ask for a full legal name or a date of birth.

Your voice is not a file we keep

Your recordings are used to build the voice and then deleted. There is no downloadable copy of your voice anywhere, and if you close your account it is destroyed.

Their number is unlisted and dedicated

It is not shared, resold, or reused.

Not a medical device, and not an emergency service

KindredMind does not diagnose, treat, or monitor anyone, and it makes no claim to affect memory or cognition.

Voices from the care community

A thoughtful way forward for families and care teams.

Caregivers, advocates, and dementia care leaders see the value of reassurance that supports the person and the people who care for them.

“What initially stood out to me about KindredMind was the thoughtful way the company approaches the balance between reassurance, autonomy, and privacy.”

Jeanette Yates

Caregiver Advocate & Care Tech Guide

“I would have used KindredMind myself. Had it existed while I was caring for my own mother, hearing my voice, even when I could not physically be there, would have brought real comfort.”
